Khairah Hadid was born in 1925. She was married to Anwar Mohammed Hadid-a professor who studied at a college in Jerusalem. He attended a university in Syria to study law and later worked as an English teacher in Palestine.
In 1948, he moved to Syria and joined the United States Information Agency (USIA) and Voice of America (VOA). They left their home in Safed, Israel, during the war. Khairah emigrated to Syria with her family in 1948 due to the 1947–1949 Palestine War.
They moved to Damascus, Tunisia, and Greece before moving to Washington, D.C., when Mohammed Hadid (Khairah Hadid’s son) was fourteen. She stayed there for the rest of her life in Washington DC, where her husband worked with the VOA and USIA as a writer, editor, and translator.
