Kali’s Forebear
J.Drew Sheard II, also known as John Drew Sheard II is a 28-year-old music producer, R&B musician, and songwriter who was born into music aristocracy and has spent more than half of his life in the music industry.
Sheard’s grandmother, Mattie Moss Clark is the late gospel choir director and his mother Karen Clark Sheard is a part of the world-renowned gospel group “The Clark Sisters”. It is evident that he was destined for a career in gospel music, following the footsteps of his grandmother, mother, aunts, and elder sister.
Since he grew up up in a musical and religiously prominent family, gospel music was always around Sheard, whether it was in his father’s church or hearing his mother and aunts sing to the heavens. His DNA will always include gospel music. At 14 years of age, he produced his sister’s debut record, giving him his first taste of the industry.
Hip-hop, including R&B, on contrary, were his first loves, and he couldn’t get away from them. Before he obtained his first drum machine as a child, Sheard started making R&B beats by connecting karaoke machines. Even though some on the outside didn’t agree with him because of his family’s background, secular music has been a part of his obsession since the first time he heard it.
Awards And Honors in Family
Sheard was named “a 40 Under 40 Trailblazer” by the Michigan Chronicle on April 20, 2018, for his achievements in the music and entertainment sector. Although his life has not taken him down the path that many imagined, he has flourished into one of the best music producers and businessmen in his age group.
