Who is Diane Millman Beck?

Diane Millman Beck is the wife of Robert Beck, a former pimp and author. Unfortunately, there’s nothing much to learn about Diane because she keeps her life private.

All we know about her is that she married Robert in 1982. Their marriage lasted for ten years when Robert passed away on April 30, 1992.

On the other hand, Diane’s husband is a very well-known personality.

Who is Diane Millman Beck’s Husband?

Diane Millman Beck’s husband is Robert Lee Maupin, Robert Beck, or Iceberg Slim. He was born on August 4, 1918.

Robert was a former pimp who later became a writer of several books. Some of his books were adapted into films.

Robert was born in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up without a father after he abandoned him and his mother. According to his autobiography, Robert was delighted because his mother didn’t leave him.

During his college days, Robert went to Tuskegee University in Alabama. Unfortunately, he was expelled because of selling moonshine to other students.

At 18, Robert started pimping women and continued this illegal activity until age 42. According to his memoir, Robert had pimped more than 400 women.

In 1961, Robert decided he was too old to be a pimp. He realized that he couldn’t compete with other pimps.

The same year, Robert moved to Los Angeles and met Betty Shue. Later on, Betty became his common-law wife.

Betty was the one who encouraged Robert to write the story of his life as a novel. The couple started writing drafts. In 1967, they published a book called Pimp. It’s a novel about Robert’s life.

In 1976, Robert released the album titled “Reflections.” Robert recited a couple of lines from his autobiography over a musical background in this album.

Who is Diane Millman Beck’s Children?

Robert married Diane in 1982.

According to reports, Diane and Robert didn’t have kids. However, Diane had step-children from Robert’s previous Wife, Betty Shue.

In total, Diane had four step-kids. She had three stepdaughters named Camille, Misty, and Melody. She also had one stepson named Leon.

How Did Diane End Her Marriage with Robert?

It’s unclear whether or not Diane was happy with Robert being his husband. However, the two didn’t divorce. Diane became a widow on April 30, 1992. This means they were married for ten years.

According to Diane, Robert’s final years were plagued by deteriorating health and financial problems. Robert became extremely isolated while suffering from diabetes.

Unfortunately, he passed away due to liver failure. He was 73 years old at the time of his passing.

In 2005, 13 years after Robert’s passing, Diane and her step-children filed a lawsuit against Holloway House for back payment of royalties. According to them, Robert passed away without receiving royalties from Holloway House.

As of today, there is no news about Diane and her step-kids. On the other hand, Robert’s remains are buried in Glendale, California, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
