Jackson was born in Germany on October 9, 1948, and brought up in Los Angeles and Orange County. He graduated from Sunny Hills High School in 1966. He performed folk tunes at Ash Grove and The Troubador Club during his early adolescence.

Phyllis Major was an American model and actress starring role in The Candy Snatchers and Cops Is Cops. Phyllis was born in the United States on January 9, 1946, and died on March 25, 1976, at 30.
Phyllis Major had long-standing mental issues and was suffering from acute postpartum depression when she attempted suicide, and she died after overdosing on medication in their Hollywood Hills home. She married musician Jackson Browne in December 1975 after meeting him at the famed Hollywood venue, the Troubador.
