In the December of the year, 1991 Phill Lewis was arrested on a charge of murder of a Maryland resident Isabel Duarte in a car accident. The blood tests revealed that Phill was three times over-intoxicated with alcohol than the limit of legal intoxication when the accident occurred. Later, the court sentenced 5 years of imprisonment to Lewis.
However, later it was reduced to one year noting Phill’s work towards drug awareness in the prison. He performed in a prison-based theatre group that performed a drama citing the consequences of drug abuse.
He was also directed to perform probation work for two years after his release and to do 350 hrs of community services. After the sentence is over Phill came out of jail clean and sober.
