Nayrok Wright was born in 1974 to Kolleen Maria Gipson (mother) and William Wright Jr. (father). She is an American singer and rapper with a rather unique style of music known as Hoodrok, a style that combines rock hip-hop with a twist of funk.
Many people do not know Nayrok Wright as much as they know her older sister Eryka Badu. But what’s interesting about her is that the more you get to know her, the more interested in her you get.
Nayrok Wright was born Koyran Wright, Her name Nayrok is spelled backwards. She also added the name Udab to her name– which is Badu spelled backward making her name Nayrok Udab.
She is the middle child of Kolleen Maria Gipson and William Wright Jr born second after Eryka Badu. Nayrok together with her siblings Eryka and Eevin Wright were raised by her mother in Dallas after an unfortunate end of their parents’ married life.
In 1999 Nayrok Wright was involved in a car accident that left both of her legs broken. The accident was reportedly caused by a drunk driver. The incident saw go through a two-year rehabilitation which she claimed to have weakened her physically but strengthened her mental ability.
In 2014, Nayrok Wright revealed that she had been in relationships with women and talked about how it felt being in the eyes of people in her life who never approved of it. Her mother, according to her, was the strongest figure in detesting her gay relationship.
In her presentation ‘go with the flow’, she explained that she was in a homosexual relationship for about five years but when that relationship ended she lost interest in dating women and went back to dating men. Today it is not known if she is in a relationship.
Nayrok is on social media though not very active, she posts her experiences once in a while on her instagram (@nayrokudab). Her twitter has not been used since 2016.
Education And Career
Unlike her sister Eryka badu, not much information about Nayrok is available in the public domain. There is however a mention that she went to South Texas University.
Her career can be traced to music. Her inspiration for music was influenced by her mothers records. She sang in a church choir and was a member of the Maureen F. Bailey Concert Choir of Dallas. Together with her sister they formed a rap group called Susta MCs and this is when her rap and performing flourished.
