Shorey’s parents are Claudine Pepin and Dr. Rollie Wesen. She is also a doting granddaughter to Jacques Pepin.

Her mother Claudine Pepin is the daughter of Jaques Pepin, a renowned chef. She married Dr. Rollie Wesen on March 23rd, 2003. Claudine Pepin is known for actively working with her father. She has been featured in many of his shows like ‘Jacques Pepin’s Heart and Soul in the Kitchen’, ‘Jacques Pepin’s Kitchen: Cooking with Claudine’ and ‘Jacques Pepin’s Kitchen: Encore with Claudine’. Several awards were won for these shows, out of which the ‘James Beard Award’ is one.

Some Achievements

Claudine has many achievements to her name. She is an alumnus of Boston University, she graduated from there with an undergraduate degree in Political Science and Philosophy and graduate work in International Relations. She has worked with Kendall-Jackson wineries and was the brand ambassador for Dom Perignon Champagne in New York. In 2002, Claudine earned the title “Woman of the Year ” given by Academie Culinaire de France. Claudine spends most of her time in the kitchen with her father and husband displaying new cooking techniques and skills. She is the president of the Jacques Pepin Foundation. Most of Claudine’s cooking philosophy displays a deep sense of family connection.  She believes that food is best when shared with those you love.

Her Father

Shorey’s father is Dr. Rollie Wesen. Rollie is Jacques Pepin’s son-in-law and Claudine Pepin’s husband. He is also the co-founder and executive director of the Jacques Pepin Foundation. Dr. Rollie earned his doctorate in the year 2019 and is currently a professor at Johnson and Wales University. He specializes in sustainability issues within the food system. Before he began working as a professor, Dr. Rollie was a distinguished chef with nearly 20 years of experience working in Michelin-star restaurants and Hyatt Hotels.

Relationship with Jacques Pepin

Jacques Pepin is the sole credit for Shorey’s fame. Jacques is her maternal grandfather. He was born on 18th March 1935 and was married to Gloria Pepin. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Columbia University.

Jacques is a well-acclaimed chef. He started off his journey as a chef at the age of 13. Over the years he was recognized for his talent and skills and was recruited to work in the Office of the Treasury, in France. He once received an offer from John F Kennedy to work as a chef at the White House but however, turned it down. Sadly, Pepin’s Career as a chef in the restaurant world ended in 1974 due to a car accident.

Since then, he has been a television personality hosting cooking shows that feature celebrities and family. It is through this that his granddaughter Shorey became well known. She has spent most of her time cooking with him since the age of 6. Currently, she shares the spotlight with her grandfather Jacques for illustrating his cookbooks. She adds a remark that spending time and cooking with her grandfather is wholesome because she enjoys listening to his life’s stories.

Not much is known about her personal life. Shorey embarks on a different journey away from the culinary world and steps into the world of science. She however adds that cooking always brings her home regardless.
