Family Background
His father’s name is Bernard Hirigoyen, and his mother’s name is Diane Kelly. His father, Bernard, was a French industrialist with a Basque Background.
Martin was brought up in Paris. After his parent’s divorce, he started living with his mother and sisters in London. He adopted his maiden name.
Martin’s Qualification
He received his education at Winchester College, Paris. Further, he studied medicine at St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College in 1898.
He got surgery training in plastic surgery in Oxford and gained his FRCS in the year 1993. After that, he obtained craniofacial reconstruction at Mount Sinai Hospital from New York. In the same year, he began his training in plastic surgery as a specialist registrar in London.
Moreover, he obtained his fellowship in plastic surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons. During his training, he received his education with Darina Krastinova.
He was quite interested in the surgery of facial features with congenital deformities. Later on, Martin Kelly was appointed as a craniofacial plastic surgeon consultant at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and Royal Marsden Hospital.
Martin’s Career
In 2003, Martin Kelly founded the charity-based organization ‘Facing the World.’ The purpose of this is to treat children globally who are disfigured by facial deformities.
Martin was also a member of the British Association of Plastic Surgeons (BAPRAS) and also of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS). Not only this, but he was also a member of the (ESCFS) European Society of Craniofacial Surgery. Moreover, he was well known for his professionalism, skills and energy. He was described as a compassionate man.
Apart from his profession, he also wrote his music and played bass guitar and drums. He enjoyed horse riding, playing tennis and skiing.

Martin Kelly got married to Irish actress ‘McElhone’ on 19th May 1998. The couple lived in Fulham, South West London.

Together with his wife, Martin Kelly has three sons named Theodore (2000), Otis (May 2003), and a third son born after Martin’s death.
When and How He Died?
Martin died at the age of 43 on 20th May 2008. He unexpectedly and suddenly died of cardiomyopathy. Martin Kelly was survived by his wife, Natasha McElhone and three kids, Theodore, Otis and Rex, born after Kelly’s death.
